A Christmas To Be Thankful For

Christmas of 2013 wasn't a very pleasant one. If you didn't have a more serious sickness, you had a cold. We were afraid that we would never get better. Ben had the flu which scared me the most... it scared me because the flu can be fatal. Thankfully Ben didn't have a bad strain of the flu, but still, it left him weak and pale. I couldn't bear looking at him....he looked so different. The moment that we found out that he had the flu, we were all put on the tamiflu medicine except for Sadie. I may have complained about its horrible side effects, but I truly am thankful for it because it kept us from getting the flu. However, we did get sick. Ericka got a respiratory virus, and later, Tim had it also. A few days before Christmas I got bronchitis, and Sadie tested positive for RSV. On Christmas Eve I had a fever of 103 degrees and was chilled to the bone... I couldn't get warm. Every Christmas Eve all of us kids, except for Sadie would stay up all night and listen to Christmas music on the radio and basically wait until mama and daddy came and woke us up. That year nobody felt like leaving there beds to wake the others up because they didn't want to let the sharp and cold air under their blankets. When daddy and mama finally came to wake us up I had gotten out of my bed, wrapped a blanket around myself ,and walked into the living room. I was very excited because I got a camera, something I had wanted for a long time. Around the end of the month of January we were better, and I learned an important lesson. Sometimes I take my good health for granted and forget to thank God for it. I guess I just expect that I will stay healthy and never get sick. Sickness does come, but I should always remember to be grateful for my good health and pray for the people who aren't as fortunate as me.

I am glad to say that all of us were and are as healthy as ever this Christmas and New Year. Santa got me the coolest present ever. It was an art set!!! It has a pretty wooden case with a handle. It has oil pastels, colored pencils, erasers, pencils, water colors, and a ruler. I have wanted this forever. From Uncle Jim I got the prettiest leather books. I got Little Women, and Alice in Wonderland.  I've read Little Women, but I haven't read Alice in Wonderland. Mr. Miles gave me a gift card for Joann's, and cash. I went to Joann's recently and got a sewing box, and things to bead with. I already have made my first bracelet. I can't possibly think of anything more that I want for Christmas. I have good health, family, friends, and last, but certainly not least in the littlest way, a God who loves me. What more could you really ask for?
