Sausage Grill Out

On Saturday we had Mr. Miles, our aunt and uncle, and cousins over for sausage. Recently we, along with Mr. Miles, made our own sausage. We have done this for years, but we really expanded our horizons this year with all of the different flavors. We made vino, jalapeno cheese, and Cajun sausage. I like the Italian sausage that we made the most though.

Anyway, we had a sausage grill out and we had lots of fun with it. I think the highlight of it for most people was the black forest cake......seriously everyone was taking pictures of it. Baking creds go to Aunt Beth. It tasted as good as it looked.

I took some pictures of the three youngest, but I couldn't get a single good pic of them.

This is before her chaotic cousins got in the picture.

Christmas 2014

A Christmas To Be Thankful For

Christmas of 2013 wasn't a very pleasant one. If you didn't have a more serious sickness, you had a cold. We were afraid that we would never get better. Ben had the flu which scared me the most... it scared me because the flu can be fatal. Thankfully Ben didn't have a bad strain of the flu, but still, it left him weak and pale. I couldn't bear looking at him....he looked so different. The moment that we found out that he had the flu, we were all put on the tamiflu medicine except for Sadie. I may have complained about its horrible side effects, but I truly am thankful for it because it kept us from getting the flu. However, we did get sick. Ericka got a respiratory virus, and later, Tim had it also. A few days before Christmas I got bronchitis, and Sadie tested positive for RSV. On Christmas Eve I had a fever of 103 degrees and was chilled to the bone... I couldn't get warm. Every Christmas Eve all of us kids, except for Sadie would stay up all night and listen to Christmas music on the radio and basically wait until mama and daddy came and woke us up. That year nobody felt like leaving there beds to wake the others up because they didn't want to let the sharp and cold air under their blankets. When daddy and mama finally came to wake us up I had gotten out of my bed, wrapped a blanket around myself ,and walked into the living room. I was very excited because I got a camera, something I had wanted for a long time. Around the end of the month of January we were better, and I learned an important lesson. Sometimes I take my good health for granted and forget to thank God for it. I guess I just expect that I will stay healthy and never get sick. Sickness does come, but I should always remember to be grateful for my good health and pray for the people who aren't as fortunate as me.

I am glad to say that all of us were and are as healthy as ever this Christmas and New Year. Santa got me the coolest present ever. It was an art set!!! It has a pretty wooden case with a handle. It has oil pastels, colored pencils, erasers, pencils, water colors, and a ruler. I have wanted this forever. From Uncle Jim I got the prettiest leather books. I got Little Women, and Alice in Wonderland.  I've read Little Women, but I haven't read Alice in Wonderland. Mr. Miles gave me a gift card for Joann's, and cash. I went to Joann's recently and got a sewing box, and things to bead with. I already have made my first bracelet. I can't possibly think of anything more that I want for Christmas. I have good health, family, friends, and last, but certainly not least in the littlest way, a God who loves me. What more could you really ask for?

These Busy, Crazy, Fall Days

I have several things that I wanted to post about, so I am just going to cram it all in one post.

Recently our family adopted a kitten from our cousins. Her name was Miss B, but now we call her Iggy Iggs. She is definitely nocturnal. All night she pounces on your face, and all day she naps in your lap. Her sister and two brothers aren't as crazy as her. I could never trade her in for any other cat. She has lots of personality and is totally cool. Sadie LOVES Iggy so much. Sometimes Iggy will get in Sadie's baby doll stroller, and let Sadie push her. That is one brave kitten.

On Thanksgiving they had some kind of HUGE sale at Goodys and Sara and Ericka wanted to go badly. I decided to tag along just in case I saw something I really loved. There was a really long line and we were late, but we made it. When we walked in, there was a sale on scarves so I got one. I had thought I'd found the perfect boots, but they were barely too small. We waited in line for about 40 minutes when Daddy and Mr. Miles came to pick me up. Daddy was going to let me get an ipad mini. They were on sale for about $40 less than normal. We picked up Ben so he could help me. When we got there there was a long line, and there were only 20 ipad minis in stock. I was the 20th person, but I let the person behind me get that one because it was white and I wanted black.

A while back our family went to the Agriama for a field trip. The Agriama is a pioneer village that has all of these shops and houses. I really didn't like the fact that we had to wear clothes that were old, dingy, and probably hadn't been washed in forever. Other than that it was really fun. It almost was like a land lost in time. Everyone there was wearing pioneer clothing. I really loved the schoolhouse and the place where you made pancakes.................the pancakes were so good.

On November first, Tim's soccer team, Thunder, and several other teams had a championship tournament. If they won or lost, their ranking would go up or down. If you lost two games you would be out. First Thunder played Bulls and lost. After that Thunder played a team from a different county and won. The whole day it was COLD. In spite of that Thunder gave it there all. Thunder had to play the Bulls again and it was a tie. They had a shoot off and Tim scored a goal. Thunder won and I felt bad for Lillie, but I was happy for Tim. Thunder had to play the Jaguars, but they had a disadvantage because they had just played a game in the freezing cold. Although they didn't win, they gave it there all, and that is what it is all about.

Our homeschool group, Harbor Home Educators, decide to make a float to go through the Christmas parade in our county. It turned out AMAZING!!!!!!!! The theme we had to follow was, Christmas stories. We decided to do, "A Pirate's Night Before Christmas". Most of the credit goes to Mr. Miles and Mr. and Mrs. Hicks. Without them we would probably be standing around not knowing what to do.
